Turns Around Set For Aug. 19-21
The 15th annual Turns Around Celebration is set for Aug. 19-21 at American Legion Park in Poplar. Camping day will be Aug. 18.
Grand entries will be held Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 7 p.m. A parade will line up at the American Legion Club at 10 a.m. with a start time of 11 a.m. A walk/run is planned for Sunday morning and a candlelight ceremony hosted by Spotted Bull Treatment Center will be held later that night. No times have been set for those events.
Specials include a featured $1,000 menâs traditional hosted by Sharon Red Thunder and family for the descendants of Helen Lester, a $600 menâs fancy shawl and a headman dancer special, as well as specials for tiny tots, junior girls, teen girls, womenâs golden age and a $1,000 womenâs jingle.
Head man dancer will be Ronald Fast Horse. Head woman dancer will be Julia Young. Other royalty include princess Anna Menz, junior princess Jr. Mae Smith, senior traveling princess Shauna Mae Chase, second attendants Maeâlee Rose Thunderchild and Mariah Carpentier. The junior traveling princess is Mystic Young. Flag bearer will be Lester Menz Sr.
Spots for food stands, toy and craft stands and hookups remain on offer.
There will be security on the grounds.
