Brockton’s Rita Track is pursuing a modeling career following an introduction to the fashion world by Rebecca Jarvey, who selected Track for inclusion in the Big Sky Indigenous Women in Fashion & Art Event in Billings April 15.

She followed the Women in Fashion event with appearances on the catwalk at four area fashion shows and events, including Big Sky Indigifest 2022 in Billings on July 15, where she modeled for Chokecherry Creek designer Angela Howe.

“Since April, my first show, I have been on a amazing journey with modeling,” Track said. “I have done four shows now and am heading to Santa Fe soon with a show in Billings before. Modeling has always been a goal of mine and I feel blessed to have met the people I have who are supporting my dream and helping me and my mom navigate this world of Indigenous beauty.”

The upcoming Billings show will be an evening event for the Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders Health Conference Aug. 17. Track will be modeling for Sweet Sage Woman designer Yolanda Good Voice.

The Sante Fe event is the 13th annual Sacred Native Fashion Show set for Aug. 20-21. Track said the Sante Fe show is produced by Troi Lynn Whitehorn and will include 15 designers. “I have had to do some fundraising to help with this trip and so far I have had lots of local support,” said Track.

Track credits mother Olivia Johnson with helping her take advantage or recent opportunities.

“She is my biggest supporter and the person who has always told me I could do whatever I wanted as long as I do the work,” said Track. “She is a big part of my successes in my life, little or big. And I’m so blessed to have her.”

Designer and Poplar High School grad Jen Atchico has encouraged Track as well, sending model calls her way and encouraging her to jump on the Indigifest opportunity in April. “I’m so proud of her,” Atchico said.
