High Traffic Continues At County Cupboard
Ashlee Anderson with the County Cupboard food bank in Culbertson said the group’s last grocery bill was $3,500. Traffic remains high at the twice monthly food distribution dates, Anderson said they received a check from The Town Pump Charitable Foundation last week and immediately put it to use.
“Town Pump recognizes the urgency to help out our neighbors now as food insecurity grows,” foundation director Bill McGladdery said when the grants were announced in April 2020.
The foundation matched $2,800 in County Cupboard donations with an even $3,000. Since 2021, the foundation has donated over $1 million in grants to 100 food banks, food pantries and shelters across the state.
Anderson told the Community News in March that the organization had been experiencing higher than normal numbers since November 2021. Grocery prices have only increased since the spring and donations are sought, as are volunteers.
The County Cupboard is a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on ending hunger in Roosevelt County. The group operates out of the county building on Main Street in Culbertson. They are open every other Tuesday of each month from 3:30-5 p.m.
