Culbertson’s Henry Colvin has been selected to participate in The Duel, a national quarterback competition hosted by the National Football Academies Quarterback Academy in Los Angeles, Calif., this week.

“When I was in sixth grade, I told my dad I wanted to be a quarterback,” Colvin told the Community News. “I was pretty lucky, because he helped me find a camp and I’ve gone back the past few years to learn more about the position and how to better help my team.”

After attending a camp in April, Colvin was asked to attend an invitation- only competition in Los Angeles, CA., July 15-16. Quarterbacks from all over the country have been invited to showcase their skills while battling against other elite athletes in a two-day national competition event.

“We are proud of how far Henry has come,” said father Mark Colvin. “With hard work and dedication, he earned a spot and we know he’ll represent himself, his team, his family, and our whole community with honor.” He said the academy teaches more than sports techniques and passing. “They focus on a balance of mind, spirit, confidence and leadership,”
