National EMS Week Recognized
May 15 marked the beginning of 47th annual National Emergency Medical Services week with the theme: “Rising to the Challenge”.
National EMS Week helps to bring together communities and emergency medical personnel to help educate communities about EMS and to honor the people whose dedication helps to provide the everyday life-saving services that they offer to their communities.
EMS providers don’t get into the profession for the high pay, comfortable working conditions, or nine-tofive hours. They get into the profession because of their true desire to help and care for others. When a medical emergency occurs, and others may step back, EMS providers are there to step forward to provide quick, reliable, and quality care to the sick and injured.
The duties of an EMS provider do not stop at providing outstanding medical care but in taking extra steps to ensure provider and patient safety, community preparedness, injury prevention, and taking in the constantly changing profession of EMS through constant training and continuing education.
