A lot of the kids in Wolf Point are good people. You can just ask Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak.

Late last week, Dschaak became aware that authorities needed to be called regarding individuals throwing knives at the floor of the Shumway Gazebo at Sherman Park.

A short time later, Dschaak said that he saw the mess and damage that has occurred at the gazebo during the recent past.

Dschaak then reached out to members of the Wolf Point’s Yellowjackets’ baseball team. He urged them to help improve the gazebo “because the public supports them.”

About six of the players came on Friday morning and worked for an hour and a half to improve the gazerbo.

“They did a great job,” Dschaak said.

The mayor still wants other improvements including paint work at the location.

“It’s open for the public to enjoy,” Dschaak said. “I don’t want it to be used and abused. I want it to be used and loved.”

Dschaak urges residents to call authorities when they see vandalism taking place.

“We can’t turn a blind eye to everything that’s going on,” Dschaak said. “We’re all guilty of doing it. Everybody has to do their part.”
