Froid High School senior Javonne Nesbit has seen a great amount of Montana during this school year.

Nesbit has competed at state events in Business Professionals of America and FFA. He has played in state championship games in both football and basketball.

“It’s been crazy,” Nesbit said of the traveling. “We’ve been going everywhere.”

He has enjoyed the learning experience he has achieved both in the FFA and BPA programs.

“I like to meet other people and see some friends,” Nesbit said of competitions.

Nesbit earned a Statesman Torch Award in BPA this year. His best events included categories dealing with Microsoft Excel and Power-Point.

He said he enjoyed livestock judging through the FFA program.

In sports, Nesbit has received All-State honors in both basketball and football.

Winning the state title in football was a great accomplishments. Highlights in basketball have included beating Fairview in Medicine Lake and playing at the state tournament in each of the past two seasons.

He was excited to recently be selected for the Montana-Wyoming All-Star basketball game.

“I was happy with that,” Nesbit said. “There’s a lot of people so it’s cool to make it.”

In the classroom, his favorite subjects are history and science.

Favorite teachers include Heather Mason, Calie Wineinger and Jaypee Umali.

After high school, Nesbit plans to attend Williston State College and take general studies. He hopes to play basketball there and then play at the international level down the road.

He has enjoyed spending his life in Froid.

“Everybody knows each other,” he said. “There are no strangers.”
