Fire Blotter March 1: A structure fire was reported at 501 Custer St. at 7:10 p.m. Five WPVFD trucks and command were assisted by Valley County Long Run with two trucks and four crew. The fire was deemed suspicious.

March 2: One truck and the city’s backhoe responded

at 6:25 a.m. to a rekindle at 501 Custer St.

March 11: An abandoned structure on fire at 315 Fairweather St. was reported at 4:20 p.m. Three trucks and command responded.

March 15: Three grass fires were reported along U.S. Highway 2 at mile markers 586, 592 and 598 at 4:01 p.m. Three trucks and command responded.

March 17: A structure fire was reported at 7:20 p.m. near mile marker 2 on Montana Highway 13N. It was deemed to be a controlled burn, not a structure fire. Three trucks and command responded.

March 20: WPVFD responded to a mutual aid call at 2:25 p.m. for a grass fire in Valley County on BIA Route 1 with three trucks.

March 23: A grass fire was reported at 1:55 p.m. at 220 Dawson St. Two trucks and command responded.

March 24: A garage and grass fire was reported at 10:12 a.m. at the Steve Nygaard residence on Highway 250. Four trucks and command responded. The fire was deemed accidental.

March 25: A gas leak was reported at 805 West Cascade St. at 9:38 a.m. One truck and command responded, but did not find a leak.

March 26: A grass fire on Larry Olson’s property east of the lagoon was reported at 12:49 p.m. The incident was an unattended illegal fire near the riverbottom. Three trucks and command responded.

March 29: A pickup on fire was reported at 329 Fifth Avenue South at 5:41 p.m. One truck and command responded to find a small fire in the box of the pickup.

March 31: Two trucks and command responded to a fatal one-vehicle accident five miles north on Powder River Road at 11:47 a.m.

One truck and command responded to a grass fire at Third Avenue South and Fairweather Street at 5:57 p.m.

April 1: Multiple grass fires were reported at 2:34 p.m. near mile marker 582 on U.S. Highway 2. Two trucks and command responded.

April 2: A dumpster was on fire at 828 West Blaine St. at 10:48 p.m. One truck and command responded.

April 3: A grass fire was reported at 9:06 p.m. at mile marker 33 on Highway 250. Two WPVFD trucks and a DNRC satellite truck responded.

April 4: A grass fire was reported at 6:06 a.m. at mile marker 588 on U.S. Highway 2. One truck responded but was unable to find a fire.

Three trucks and command responded to a car fire at 4:32 p.m. at Sixth Avenue South and Fairweather Street.

April 5: WPVFD responded to Poplar for a mutual aid call for a grass fire at Riverside at 9:51 a.m. with one truck.

April 7: An unattended bonfire behind a shed at mile marker 586 on U.S. Highway 2 was reported at 5:42 a.m. One truck and command responded.

At 9:02 p.m., a car fire was reported at 108 East Edgar St. One truck and command responded.

April 9: One truck assisted the EMS with a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 50 on Highway 25 at 10:22 a.m.

April 23: A suspicious structure fire was reported at 420 1/2 Custer St at 3:26 p.m. Two trucks and command responded.

April 24: Two trucks responded to Poplar for a mutual aid call for a grass fire at the landfill south of town at 5:55 p.m.
