Area residents endured some harsh temperatures during the first full week of 2022.

After a high temperature of 13 degrees on Tuesday, Jan. 4, the high temperature was only 7 degrees below zero in Wolf Point on Wednesday, Jan. 5. According to the National Weather Service, the low temperature in Wolf Point on Jan. 5 was 24 degrees below zero. The temperatures were 15.5 degrees colder than average.

Wolf Point experienced a high temperature of 14 degrees below zero and a low temperature of 28 degrees below zero on Thursday, Jan. 6. The temperatures were 21 degrees lower than average.

In Glasgow, the high temperature was 13 below zero and the low temperature was 22 below zero on Wednesday, Jan. 5. The readings were 17.5 degrees below average. On Thursday, Jan. 6, the high temperature was 5 degrees below zero and the low temperature was 29 degrees below average. The temperatures were 17 degrees lower than average.

Temperatures in Culbertson on Thursday, Jan. 6, were reported to be a high of 17 below zero and a low of 35 degrees below zero. The temperatures were 26 degrees lower than average.

Wind chills were a factor for much of the week. Minimum wind chills on Jan. 6 included 47 below zero in Wolf Point and 46 below zero in Poplar, with 52 below zero in Plentywood being the coldest in the area.

Much warmer temperatures are anticipated for this weekend. The forecast calls for high temperatures of 37 on Wednesday, Jan. 12, and 34 on Thursday, Jan. 13. High temperatures are anticipated to be in the 20s during the weekend.
