Senior Profile O’Neill Keeps Busy With Music, Sports
Culbertson High School senior Zach O’Neill keeps active with his involvement in a handful of activities at the school.
O’Neill has been a member of the school’s music department since the fifth grade. He currently plays the baritone saxophone for the school’s band.
“I prefer it over the bass,” O’Neill said after his musical instrument. “If you have a song with a good bass part, it’s fun to play.”
As far as sports, O’Neill competes in football and track.
He earned second team All-Conference honors at offensive guard to help the Cowboys reach the playoffs this past season.
O’Neill said highlights of the football season included games against Fairview and Scobey. “They were tough teams,” he said.
In track, O’Neill will compete in the javelin, discus and shot put. He said he has missed the sport during the last couple of seasons and wants to return as a senior.
His favorite class is weight lifting. He doesn’t have one particular favorite teacher. “They are all pretty good,” O’Neill said.
He enjoys living in the Culbertson community. “It’s nice and quiet,” he said. “It’s what I’m used to.”
O’Neill’s plans after high school include enlisting in the U.S. Army.
“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,” he said. “My grandpa served in Vietnam. It will help me figure out what career to go into.”
