Wolf Point Comes Alive With Holiday Activities Wolf Point Comes Alive With Holiday Activities

Numerous activities kicked off the holiday season last weekend.

Activities began in the afternoon Friday, Dec. 3, with the Optimist Club of Wolf Point’s annual Angel Tree Radio-thon. Area talent performed during the event which was hosted by KVCK.

Though numerous donations were received, additional funding is needed. Contact Gloria Sande for more information on how to donate to this project which purchases gifts for children in Wolf Point who might not get presents otherwise.

Persons who prefer to shop for a specific child can choose an angel and purchase or make them a gift. Those gifts should be returned to wherever the angel was picked up or taken to Bryan’s. Angels are available at The Sherman, all three banks, Family Dollar, Bryan’s and Agland Hardware (formerly Gysler Hardware). The gifts are sorted, wrapped and prepared to be delivered by the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Department.

Friday evening, Sherman Park was lit with numerous holiday light displays. Hayrides by Build Pro Construction were offered as part of the annual Christmas Stroll event. Numerous businesses and organizations got into the holiday spirit with activities during the event, including Naughty and Nice Hot Cocoa by the Sherman Inn, free chili from the Wolf Point Lions Club, s’mores-making station by Opportunity Bank, Catholic Burgers, Stampede Christmas tree sales and the NEMHS Foundation Festival of Trees at the Wolf Point Elks Event Center.

Saturday morning, the Optimist Club held their annual Christmas bazaar at the Wolf Point High School and had good attendance despite the winter weather that hit the region. Many vendors braved the snowy weather to showcase their wares at the bazaar. The Optimists had a lunch sale as well as their popular cookie sale.

Despite challenges, the annual NEMHS Charitable Foundation gala was enjoyed by those who attended the event Saturday evening at the Wolf Point Elks Event Center. Due to the winter weather, Cape Air canceled the flight from Billings which resulted in the comedian scheduled to cancel his appearance.

Numerous silent auction items, as well as drawings for a stackable diamond ring set, a ATI Calvery over/under SV 12-gauge shotgun and a 50/50 cash drawing, raised money for the foundation. Foundation board member Stuart Conner noted that the foundation’s focus this year were purchases to assist with the medical care of children.

NEMHS EMS crew member Sierra Hentges gave an update on some of the accomplishments of the EMS team.

The dinner was catered by Smokehouse BBQ and consisted of appetizers, dinner salads and a prime rib main course. Wolf Point High School National Honor Society members served the meal.

The Wolf Point Elks Lodge held their annual memorial service Sunday afternoon, honoring Keith Burrowes, Doug Baker, Howard Rasmussen and Dennis Vinger.
