The Lady Wolves were defeated by Fairfield, 23-25, 13-25, 16-25, during the first round of the divisional volleyball tournament held in Glasgow on Thursday, Nov. 4.

Down by an 18-15 margin in the first set, the Wolves battled back with two kills and a block by Sierra Hamilton to cut the gap to 19-18. A kill by Jaylee Azure kept the Wolves close at 20-19.

Fairfield increased its lead to 23-21 until the Wolves scored on a kill by J’Elle Garfield for a 23-22 game.

The Eagles, however, earned a 25-23 victory.

In the second set, the Wolves started off well as a kill by Adeia Erickson produced an 8-6 lead. A spike and ace by Katelyn MacDonald gave Wolf Point a 10-7 advantage.

The Wolves led 12-11 until Fairfield struck for eight straight points. A kill by Hamilton put the margin at 19-13, but the Eagles then scored the last six points of the second set.

In the third set, kills by Erickson and Garfield kept the Wolves close at 12-7. After Fairfield moved out to a 16-10 lead, the Wolves scored on a block by Hamilton, a kill by Erickson and a kill by Garfield to stay within reach at 20-13. A block by Kylie Rodenberg cut the gap to 21-14. Fairfield then scored four of the last six points.

Hamilton accounted for nine kills and two blocks. Rodenberg had 21 assists.

MacDonald served one ace. Garfield had two blocks.

Emma Woods scored two aces and seven kills.
