Plentywood Beats Red Hawks In Divisional Championship Match
Plentywood edged Froid/ Lake, 25-20, 25-22, 23-25, 2521, in a well-played match for the Eastern C divisional volleyball championship held in Sidney on Saturday, Nov. 6.
The Red Hawks took an 1817 lead on a kill by Carolyne Christoffersen in the second set. After Plentywood went ahead 21-19, Jaeleigh Davidson scored a kill to keep the Red Hawks close at 23-21.
The Wildcats ended the set on a kill by Liv Wangerin.
After falling behind 10-5 in the third set, the Red Hawks battled back for a 12-11 lead on an ace by Mara Salvevold and the net play of J. Davidson.
With the third set deadlocked at 20-20, the Red Hawks grabbed the lead on kills by J. Davidson and Dasani Nesbit. Froid/Lake went on to win the set by a 25-23 margin.
The Red Hawks trailed early in the fourth set, but kills by Nesbit and J. Davidson closed the margin to 21-20. Plentywood, however, defeated the Red Hawks by a 25-21 final.
Christoffersen finished with 12 kills and five blocks. Nesbit and Salvevold each served two aces.
Meg Ator accounted for 17 assists. Aleah Johnson had seven digs.
Plentywood’s Wangerin finished with 19 kills, two blocks and four aces.
Emma Brensdal added 16 kills. Ashtyn Curtiss had 41 assists.
