Steven Paul Nygaard, 61, of Wolf Point died Aug. 7, 2021, at his home on the farm.

He was born on Aug. 11, 1959, in Wolf Point to Burle and Lillian (Black) Nygaard, the fifth of six children. He was raised on the family farm north of Wolf Point and graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1978. In high school, he participated in football, basketball and wrestling, with football being his favorite sport.

After high school, he worked on various plumbing projects which took him to Nett Lake, Minn. He later attended Eastern Montana College where he made lifelong friends. In 1981, he worked for a seismograph company as an operator and mechanic again making lifelong friends while working in Texas, California, Utah, Wyoming and Montana.

In 1988, he followed in his father’s footsteps and began farming. He loved his farming life, especially harvest, and spent many hours reading and researching farm related topics. He enjoyed shop talk about farming, equipment and vehicles. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

In 1991, he married Linda DenBoer of Dupuyer. She joined him in farming and, on June 15, they celebrated 30 years together.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of Wolf Point; three children, Katrina Nygaard of Bellingham, Wash., Paul Nygaard of Wolf Point and Maegen Sayles Settlemires of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two sisters and three brothers, Linda Marie Nygaard of Vashon, Wash., Duane Nygaard of Wolf Point, Randy Nygaard of Sedalia, Colo., Brenda Weeks of Wolf Point and Bradley Nygaard of Chelan, Wash.

A celebration of life service for family and friends will take place at his home Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. with a potluck lunch following the service. Pastor Greg Holler- Dinsmore will officiate the service. Cremation has taken place, arrangements by Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel.
