Lustre Christian Holds Graduation Ceremony

Lustre Christian High School held a joyful celebration on Sunday, May 16, as the 2021 commencement was held for six graduates.
The class included Josh Brown, Brooke Byers, Ashley O’Hara, Kenny Shema, Braeden Toavs and Tiara Whitmus.
In her salutatory address, Tiara Whitmus noted how the other graduates have impacted her life. She said she considers them all sisters and brothers in Christ.
Whitmus said her classmates helped build her up spiritually, emotionally and physically.
“You five have inspired me to be a more stable Christian every day,” Whitmus said.
She considers her fellow graduates lifelong friends and that they have what it takes to succeed after high school. She thanked teachers and community members.
When thanking her family, she joked, “Hey, I made it. Because I know sometimes you had your doubts.”
Valedictorian Josh Brown urged his classmates to keep attending a good Bible- teaching
church. He stressed that they need to stand up for what they believe in, share the Gospel and not let the Devil into their lives.
“If you have Christ in you, you will be successful,” Brown said.
Guest speaker Michael Butler, a teacher at the school, provided three tips of advice that he received before he started college.
First, his brother told him, “If you’re going to be a music student, invest in mechanical pencils.” Butler said since each student has a lot of work ahead, it’s good advice for them. “There will be times, hopefully not too many, when you make mistakes,” Butler said. When mistakes happen, he urged them to move ahead with humility and grace.
Second, Don’t take yourself too seriously. Butler said it doesn’t matter what successes others achieve, graduates should follow their faith in their lives. He reminded students, “You can’t save a single soul, only God can do that.”
Third, Butler urged the graduates to find a church immediately. He told them they need Christian fellowship, no matter how tired they are on Sunday mornings. He stressed to never grow weary of the Gospel.
