Frontier Moves Forward With Home Purchase


The Frontier School Board voted to purchase a modular home to use for teachers’ housing during the board’s monthly meeting on Thursday, May 13.
“We have to do something to entice teachers to come here,” board chair Therese Long said. “I think it will be beneficial.”
Trustees approved up to $70,000 for the purchase of the 14 by 40 Skyline home that will be placed on the school grounds. The home will include appliances. It is hoped that the home will arrive near the end of September.
Trustees may also consider purchasing a second modular home to help with teaching housing.
The school district is deciding whether to keep Montana Unified School Trust insurance or switch to Pacific Source for health insurance.
Superintendent Christine Eggar informed the board of three families who are experiencing poor attendance. Each of the families have students who attend about only 50 percent of the time or less. The families reside outside of the district.
Trustee Bill Pew and clerk LaVonna Pew took oaths of office. Long was voted board chair and Bill Pew was elected vice chair.
Eighth-grade graduation will feature nine students and will take place at 7 p.m. on May 27.
Trustees approved Dane Harada and Josh Smith for summer employment.
