Individuals Elected To Trustee Positions
Debra McGowan and Hillary Gourneau were the winners of the Poplar School Board election on Tuesday. McGowan received 181 votes and Gourneau had 145 votes. Also receiving votes were Olivia Headdress with 112, Paula Fire Moon with 91 and Thomas Brown with 53.
In other contested races, Michael Redstone and Michael Cole were the winner of school board positions in Frazer.
Redstone won a three-year term with 83 votes, according to unofficial results. Sonya Smoker received 52 votes.
Cole was the winner in the election for the one-year term with 84 votes. Angie Toce Blount received 53 votes.
Unofficial Culbertson School board election results included two very close outcomes.
Results for Culbertson’s threeyear term election included Mark Colvin, 186 votes; Paul Finnicum, 154 votes; Gretchen Wagner, 153 votes. The top two are elected to the positions.
Results to Culbertson’s one-year term included: Ian Walker, 73 votes; Shadd Cullinan, 72 votes; Mandy Byrd, 55 votes; Jason LaQua, 47 votes; Leslie Bengochea, 18 votes. The top vote-getter is elected to the seat.
The elementary mill levy passed by a 180-99 margin.
Culbertson’s votes were counted twice on Tuesday, May 4. If a request is made, another recount will take place. The canvass of the votes is scheduled for May 18.
In Brockton, Olivia Johnson received 37 votes while Wilfred Lambert received 36 and Leonard Boxer had 26 votes. There were two positions up for election.
