Wolf Point Board Approves Teacher Hires, District Agreements
The Wolf Point School board held their regular meeting Monday, June 8. The proceedings were made accessible via video on the Southside School’s Facebook page.
Following a statement to visitors and the call to order, minutes were approved for the May 11 regular meeting and a May 28 special meeting. Warrant registers and claims against the district were also approved.
Northside principal Georgie Gourneau reported to the board that custodians are off to a good start on their summer projects.
Said Gourneau: “Northside is offering summer school for the month of June 1-25 from 9 a.m. to noon. We currently have 23 students enrolled. Class offerings are math, reading, art and athletics. Students are placed in four groups and rotate classes. A light lunch is provided to the students daily. HPDP has been screening students upon entering the building.”
Junior high principal John Wetsit said that 18 students have been identified for summer school beginning June 8. He said that two positions at the school remain to be filled.
Activities director Cody Larson reported that sanding has begun on the high school gym floor and will be finished around July 8.
Independent contractor agreements were approved with Nancy J. Braaten for occupational therapy services, RDT Services LLC for random drug and alcohol testing for the transportation program and Facility Solutions Management & Consulting for pending re-roofing projects.
Ronikka Kendall tendered her resignation from the district, as did Caitlyn Nyby.
Kristel Macapobre, Benoit Azure, August Kobe, Johnathan Spotted Wolf and Karli McGowan were hired as teachers with the district. Georgie Gourneau was hired to teach summer school and Art Tapaha were hired for custodial services. Dan Horsmon was hired as assistant volleyball and tennis coach. Cole Baker was hired as assistant cross country coach.
A postage meter lease agreement was approved, as were changes to the Northside student handbook. The student accident catastrophic insurance was renewed and endof- year finances were approved. Superintendent Loverty Erickson was appointed the authorized representative for all local, state and federal projects in the district and Title IX representative and McKinney-Vento homeless liaison.
The next regular school board meeting is Aug. 10.
