Clean Sweep Will Be Ongoing

Wolf Point Clean Sweep is officially underway at press time. The event is scheduled to end May 25, but Barbara Olson told the Northern Plains Independent that the event will be ongoing, with participants encouraged to respect social distancing guidelines and look for litter in small groups.

“Graduation is right around the corner,” said Olson. “Wouldn’t it be nice if the city was looking good?”

Olson said the underpass in Wolf Point and other problem areas were clean following passes from a streetsweeper and curbside trash pickup efforts May 18-19. She said area residents dedicated to clean sweep should continue to do what they can to beautify the city.

Curbside trash pickup was offered May 18-19. The Wolf Point City Dump offered extended Sunday hours May 17. Regular summer hours at the dump moving forward are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Call the city at 653-1852 for more information.

Chamber executive director Julie D’Ambrosio said willing volunteers are invited to help clean Highway 2 on Thursday, May 28. The group will meet at Agland West around 5:30 p.m.

Participating individuals and groups include the Optimist Club of Wolf Point, Gospel Fellowship Church, Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel, High Plains Motors, local EMS, the Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, Bruce “Cubby” Damon and the Montana Department of Transportation.
