Commissioners Thank Hays After 33 Years

The Roosevelt County Commissioners held their regular meeting via conference call Tuesday, May 5. Commissioners Gordon Oelkers, Duane Nygaard and Gary Macdonald were in attendance.

Minutes were approved for the April 21 public meeting, an April 23 special administrative meeting, a department head meeting April 28 and a special administrating meeting April 28. Minutes were also approved for the month of April.

A request was approved from the health department to purchase a new copier in the amount of $7,001. Departmental funds and funds from Planned Parenthood were used to make the purchase.

Two agreements with Interstate Engineering were approved. The first was an agreement for professional services, the other for new growth policy.

Steve Harada gave an update from the Unified Command Task Force. He said the group continues to meet weekly on Wednesdays. He said the task force has discussed the phased reopening scheduled ordered by Governor Steve Bullock and added that they are ready to reactivate distancing orders if necessary.

Claims were accepted in the amount of $64,050.36.

A mutual aid during disaster agreement was approved between the county and Indian Health Service.

The commissioners approved an agreement with JPT Insurance for three years at a rate increase of 5.1 percent effective July 1.

Dave Arndt was reappointed to the Missouri River Country board.

A pay raise was approved for Alyssa Pautsch in the aging department.

The commissioners expressed their appreciation to library director Andrea Hays, who will retire June 30. She has served the county for more than 33 years.
