Bullock Extends School Closures To April 10

Montana Governor Steve Bullock announced via press conference March 24 that Montana public K-12 schools will remain closed through April 10. Bullock delivered a COVID-19 response for media Tuesday afternoon.

Bullock said restrictions and closures may be extended moving forward. He added that people should maintain social distancing practices in order to slow the spread of coronavirus. His order to close all bars, restaurants, casinos and gyms was also extended to April 10.

Bullock also banned all gatherings in private residences of 10 people or more.

Bullock also responded to questions about daycare facilities, saying that child care services are effectively essential services, as workers in key fields aren’t able to show up to work if child care is unavailable. Bullock clarified that he did not specify day care workers as essential because the state has not yet moved to close all businesses deemed non-essential.
