Carol Erickson (Rensvold)

Carol Erickson (Rensvold)

Carol Jean Erickson (Rensvold), 78, of Vida died March 31, 2025, at the Billings Clinic. She was born July 31, 1946, in Miles City, the second child born to Carl and Bertha (Naasz) Schlepp. Circle was where her family made their home. She attended Circle schools and this is where she met Robert “Bob” Erickson. They were married June 8, 1963, and they made their home in Vida, where they farmed, gardened and raised their three children, Shelly, Sherry and Michael. As parents, they were always present for all of their children's activities and very supportive of all the things their children were involved in throughout the years. They taught hard work ethics, good morals and the importance of having a relationship with Jesus Christ. She was leader of the Sunday School program at the Evangelical Church for many years. She became a widow on Sept. 2, 1996 when Bob was killed in a car accident. She continued to live in Vida where she helped on the family farm, raised her garden and tended to her beautiful yard and “Vida Park.” On June 12, 2012, she married Ted Rensvold after a short courtship. His family instantly became part of her family. Together, Ted and Carol traveled to see them and enjoyed some of their sporting events. They enjoyed going on bus trips around the country and seeing new places and meeting new people. They enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing cards with friends. The love of dancing was something they had in common and they attended many senior dances. Throughout life, she was involved in many things. She could be described as a doer, planner, caretaker, hard worker, giver. For many years, she helped Agnes Schmidt with events. She also planned and held many events in her yard such as Christian singing groups and dinners. She was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed sports and even played on the women's softball team that her husband Bob coached. She was always helping a neighbor or friend in need. She babysat many children in the Vida area. She is survived by her husband, Ted Rensvold of Vida; daughters, Shelly Sutton of Circle and Sherry Haynie of Vida; son, Michael Erickson of Billings; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and brother, Jerry Schlepp of Glendive. She is also survived by Ted's family: Dave Rensvold, Joscelyn Tracy and Eric Rensvold and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Erickson; and infant sister, Bonnie. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5, at the Circle Evangelical Church. Burial was at the Vida Cemetery.
