The Culbertson Cowgirls dropped a tough 36-33 decision in Plentywood on Saturday, Dec. 3. Culbertson fell behind by an 8-5 margin in the first quarter, but the scoring of Makena Hauge and Destiny Thompson led the Cowgirls to 11 points in the second period to trail 20-16 at the half. Bainville fought off Richey/ Lambert, 61-59, to open its boys’ basketball season with a victory on Friday, Dec. 2. Froid native Sydney Dethman led Fresno State with eight rebounds in the women’s basketball team’s 62-60 loss against Portland State on Thursday, Dec. 1. Dethman, a sophomore, scored three points and had an assist in the non-conference contest. The Bulldogs have a 4-4 record this season with victories over Fresno Pacific, UC Riverside, UC Merced and Delaware.
