Johnson Wins Champion Of Champions Honor
When Lilly Johnson received grand champion round robin honors at the Roosevelt County Fair, she was able to go on and represent Roosevelt County in the Champion of Champions Round Robin Showmanship in Circle. This event is in its 22nd year and hosted by McCone County 4-H. The event is for senior division winers.
Representatives throughout the region compete for the chance to receive this honor,
Lustre Volleyball
Lustre’s volleyball squad will open its season in Culbertson on Saturday, Aug. 31. The Lions play
home on Sept. 6-7.

Winds Fuel Lightning Fire Near Culbertson
Area fire departments were dispatched Wednesday, Aug. 21, around noon to fight a fire along the river bottom east of Culbertson.
Approximately 200 acres were burned on the Anderson and Bowker ranches. No structures were damaged. High winds were a contributing factor. Roosevelt County Fire Marshal Mike Olson told the Community News that Bainville, Culbertson and Froid volunteer fire departments
Brockton Football
Brockton’s football team has home games against Plevna, Richey/Lambert and Savage this season.
This is the high school program’s second year.
