A bill to reauthorize the Fort Peck Dry Prairie Rural Water System was introduced last week by U.S. Sens. Steve Daines, R-Mont., and Tim Sheehy, R-Mont. The bill extends authority for the Bureau of Reclamation to continue constructing essential water infrastructure in the Fort Peck Reservation and the counties of Roosevelt, Sheridan, Valley and Daniels from December 2026 to December 2028.

The Culbertson Town Council held its regular meeting Jan. 12 at the town hall building on Broadway Avenue. Following the approval of meeting minutes, financials and claims, council members heard updates about construction on the municipal bathhouse project, which is nearly complete. The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 145 calls from Jan. 12-19. The calls included the following: Jan. 12 Deputies responded to tribal housing in Poplar for a report of a man being injured after slipping and falling. He was helped into the ambulance.
