After Wolf Point resident Bill Juve expressed his disagreement about the county stipends again during the public comment portion of the commissioners’ meeting on Tuesday, June 1, Commissioner Gordon Oelkers explained some of the reasoning for spending CARES funds in that fashion. Juve asked if giving the stipends to only county employees was discrimination against other county taxpayers.

The Bainville Town Council has rescheduled a budget workshop meeting previously set for June 7. The date for the next meeting is pending. The full council meeting is set for Monday, June 14. A motorcycle ride to raise awareness for suicide prevention has been planned by Yellowstone American Legion Riders, Dog Tag Buddies and Tenacious Dames Riding Club. The Ride for Tomorrow will take place June 19 and encompasses both an official Iron Butt ride (1,000 miles in 24 hours) and various summer solstice routes. Perry Hekkel, 73, lifetime resident of Culbertson, died Saturday morning, June 5, 2021, at the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home in Culbertson.
