Culbertson To Open Season In Chinook Saturday
The Culbertson Cowboys will kick off their football season with a non-conference game at Chinook on Saturday, Aug. 27.
The Sugarbeeters are expected to have a tough team again this season. Chinook finished fourth in the North Division last season. The Sugarbeeters lost a close game against Fairview, 34-25, in the opening round of the playoffs.

Culbertson Hosts Tournament To Begin Volleyball Season
Volleyball season will begin with the eight-team Culbertson Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 27. Action starts at 8 a.m.
Pool A for the tournament will include Culbertson, Scobey, Lustre Christian and Savage. Pool B teams are Bainville, Froid/Lake, Brockton and Nashua.
After pool play, a single-elimination tournament will follow.

Red Hawks Shoot For Third Straight State Championship
The two-time defending six-man state champion Froid/Lake Red Hawks feature a lot of depth this football season.
“I feel we’re deeper than last year,” coach Michael Reiter said of the 20-player team. “We’re going to miss the five All-State players, but we have others who can contribute a ton.”

Froid/Lake Hopes For Return Trip To State Tournament
With five starters returning from last season’s team, the Froid/Lake Red Hawks are hoping for a return trip to the Class C state volleyball tournament this year.
Seniors on the squad are Carolyne Christoffersen, Dasani Nesbit, Baylee Davidson, Aleah Johnson and McKaylee Elvsaas.
Nesbit and Christoffersen were each All-State selections last year. Davidson and Johnson each earned second team
Bulldogs Ready To Start Football Season Under New Coach
Bainville’s dedicated football players started practice under the guidance of new head coach Shawn Romo on Friday, Aug. 12.
The squad features 14 players this season. Adrian Anderson is the lone senior for the Bulldogs.
“We’re young overall, but it’s a good number,” Romo said.

Young Bainville Team Looks To Make Noise In District Race
The Bainville Bulldogs hope that youth will be served this volleyball season.
Bainville’s roster of 12 players includes zero seniors, four juniors, two sophomores and six freshmen.
“We have to figure out who our leaders are since we don’t have any seniors,” Bainville coach Kallie Clarke said. “They are a really good group of kids.”

Culbertson/Bainville Fields Solid Cross-Country Squad
A year after earning second place at the state girls’ cross-country meet, the Culbertson/Bainville team enjoys a good turnout this fall.
Kayli Olson, Destiny Thompson and Megan Granbois are returning members of last year’s girls’ squad. Culbertson had 59 points at state compared to champion Manhattan Christian’s 47 points.
