Roosevelt County commissioners discussed a possible path of selling two abandoned properties on Anaconda Street and First Avenue South in Wolf Point during a meeting on Tuesday, March 24. The commissioners have found out that it’s not possible to simply transfer the properties to the Fort Peck Tribes because Montana code doesn’t recognize the tribes as a government entity. The Roosevelt County commissioners approved a commitment to purchase the Culbertson Readiness Center and organizational maintenance shop, which are located in the former National Guard Armory. Commissioners approved $1.085 million for the purchase, but they are hopeful that the governor would approve some state funding and that the city of Culbertson will also provide funds for the acquisition.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 134 calls from March 23-30. The calls included: March 23 An adult male flagged down a deputy and said that someone stole tools from his property.
