Rachel B. Walter, 75, of Prairie Elk Colony, died Sept. 2, 2021. She was born Feb. 13, 1946, to Elias and Sarah Waldner in Cardston, Alberta. She lived at West Raley Colony until she married her beloved husband, the late Ben Walter, in 1972. She lived at Surprise Creek Colony until 2006 and then moved to Prairie Elk Colony until the time of her death. She was a quiet lady who loved to keep herself busy with many hobbies. She did the task at hand with love and joy. Working with the ladies on the colony was her pleasure. She enjoyed spending quality time with her loved ones. She was a person of few words. She would sit and enjoy just being with her family. Her words were measured and she had wisdom for all. With her simple trusting faith, she showed how to love the Lord in deed and truth with kindness to her fellowman. Ben’s death broke her heart. Six weeks after his death, she was diagnosed with cancer. She fought bravely. She was at White Lake in June and July for six weeks. It was a great blessing to be able to spend this time with her grandchildren and it was an opportunity for her family to come and visit her. She is survived by her daughter Diane and son-inlaw Toby Walter; three grandsons; two granddaughters; her daughter, Rose Anna; and siblings, Joe, Jake, Dave of Stronski, Katie of Spring Point, Susie of Copperfield, Rosa of Leedale. She was also preceded in death by a baby son, Eli Phillip; a baby daughter, Lois Marie; brothers, Elias and Chris of Stronski; and sisters, Mary of Valley View, Sarah of Jumbo Valley and Theresa of Hodgeville. Funeral services were held Sunday Sept. 5, at Prairie Elk Colony south of Wolf Point. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
