The Town of Culbertson held their regular meeting Monday, Sept. 13. A resolution was passed canceling the November election of local municipal officers. All candidates ran unopposed. The Town of Bainville held their regular meeting Monday, Sept. 13, with the full council was present. Following the approval of the agenda and meeting minutes for August, clerk Nikki Rogers announced that a rabies clinic was held Aug. 23. The event was funded by the Trenton Indian Service Area. The Culbertson School board agreed to the idea of conducting an alternative to the Montana Science Olympiad competition. Because the Montana Science Olympiad was moved to April 15, it now falls around Culbertson’s spring break. Instructor Paula Schledewitz proposed an alternative of having a local competition instead of participating in the state event. Trustees agreed and will take formal action

On a split vote, Roosevelt County Commissioners didn’t approve a pay raise request by county attorney Frank Piocos for an attorney office employee. Piocos asked that Erika Fyfe’s pay be increased from 80 percent to 84 percent of the clerk and recorder’s salary. Piocos noted the key role that Fyfe plays in the office especially since deputy legal assistant Donna Reum is retiring on Sept.

Two days after being held in contempt of court in Yellowstone County, the Montana Office of Public Defenders appeared before a legislative budget subcommittee dedicated to public safety on Wednesday to explain how they plan to navigate heavy caseloads with finite resources.
