Jeanne Carol Boulds, age 94, of Poplar, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, peacefully in Red Lodge, Mont., surrounded by family and in the care of her daughters, Dolores and Barrie, who were her caregivers the last three years of her life. Jeanne was born Aug. 11, 192, in Westby, Mont., to Elmer and Esther (Andersen) Bergh. She was delivered at home by her grandmother Kirsten from Copenhagen, Denmark. She was the middle of three siblings. As a child, Jeanne spent time in the Minneapolis Shriners Hospital for Children in casts and in surgery due to being born with club feet. Jeanne grew up in Westby, Mont., until a few years after her father’s death at age 11. The family then moved to Vancouver, Wash., in the early ‘40s to work in a fruit canning factory to support World War II efforts and Jeanne also volunteered at the Barnes General Hospital visiting and helping with the war veterans there. The family made their way back to Montana after the war and Jeanne graduated from Plentywood High School in 1946. She worked at the soda fountain counter at Plentywood Drug. She met the love of her life at a dance at the Blue Moon in Plentywood, and they wed less than a week after her 18th birthday. She wed Raymond “Johnny” Boulds Aug. 17, 1946, and they were married for 58 years until his death. Out of this union, they were blessed with 11 children. The story goes that Dad saw Mom through the window at Plentywood Drug and told his sister Mona that he was going to marry that girl. He was smitten with Jeanne from first sight and for the rest of his life. After Ray’s graduation from pharmacy school in Missoula, the family finally settled in Poplar, Mont., where they owned and ran Boulds Drugstore together for 56 years. Jeanne was the bookkeeper and president of Boulds Drug, Inc. Jeanne played piano and had a beautiful voice and sang for many weddings, funerals, special events and for her family. She volunteered many years for chamber events, as an election official, at the America Legion Club and Wild West Days. She won trophies for bowling and liked to meet with the Lutheran ladies for cards and coffee. She sewed and canned food from the family garden. She enjoyed road trips, traveling to visit family, and vacations. In her later years, her and her daughter Dolores would take little road trips to get her hair done, play cards and have lunch at the café. She enjoyed daily crosswords and loved to play scrabble and won almost every game. Even though she was not quite 5’ tall, she was a spitfire and the rock of the family. She never forgot a birthday or an anniversary and loved her grandchildren immensely. She cared for her family her whole life and never turned away any of her children in need. She loved her family unconditionally. She is survived by her 11 children: Muriel (Russell) Smith of Texas, Aileen Edwards of Billings, John and Mike of Poplar, Donna (Robert) Ranf of Missoula, Patricia (John) Toavs of Wolf Point, Laurel Boulds-Fisk of Washington, Raymond “Jeff” of Nevada, Robert (Rachel) of Utah and Dolores and Barrie of Red Lodge; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins and friends. She is survived by her favorite puppy, Lola, who was by her side for 14 years. Her husband, parents, sisters, Mildred and Barbara, preceded her in death. A private burial and graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Plentywood. Mary Jo Solberg, 70, died Dec. 22, 2022, at her home in Williston, N.D. She was born in Sidney on April 13, 1952, to Art and Lil Moran. She was the youngest of eight children and was nicknamed “Baby” by her parents and older siblings. In October 1974, she married Arnie Solberg. Together, they raised their three children: Jason, Nikki and Michael. She was known by her peers as an awesome pool player and friend. She won many top shooter jackets during her pool league career in Wolf Point. She devoted much time to her parents in their final years. She was a homemaker and caretaker. In the early ‘90s, she was a CNA at Faith Lutheran Home. It was during these years, she met her bonus daughter, Kristal. In 1996, Arnie and Mary Jo opened the Son Mountain Bible Bookstore in Wolf Point. She juggled her CNA work with her duties at the bookstore. In 2001, Son Mountain shut their doors because Arnie accepted a position at Mercy Medical Center in Williston, N.D. In 2004-2005, she was the manager at Decasa Mexican Restaurant in Williston. She eventually became the team captain of her new pool league team and she played in her league for many years before her last tournament in 2021 where her team placed second place in the state tournament. She loved her time at home watching her crime shows and randomly saying “I love my family.” She loved her family, especially enjoying her visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Gary Moran, Anthony Moran and Andy Moran; and sisters, Patricia Moran and Theresa Moran. She is survived by her husband, Arnie Solberg; son, Jason Sullivan; daughter, Nikki Solberg; son, Michael Solberg; bonus daughter, Kristal Dolde; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held April 13 at 1 p.m. at the Wolf Point Community Hall.

Yvonne Edna “Vonnie” (Chambers) Guldborg, 82, died March 15, 2023, at Mc-Cone County Health Center in Circle. She was born March 18, 1940, in Ronan to Fred Chambers and Caroline Finkbeiner Chambers. In 1943, the family moved to a farm at Vida. In 1946, they moved to Circle. She attended school in Circle, graduating in 1958. She was proud of the time she spent working at Chapin Drug in her younger years and also being a cheerleader for Circle High School athletics, a passion that continued up until her death. On July 6, 1958, she married Robert Guldborg of Brockway. They farmed alongside of his brothers, forming Guldborg Bros., Inc. They had three children: Kari, Kurt and Kevin. Her passions included cooking, gardening, taking care of her yard and flowers, teaching Sunday school and attending her children’s activities. She could often be found in the gym bleachers or on the hill above the baseball field keeping her own scorebook. She joined the Order of the Eastern Star in 1963. Maria Loretta “Tweet” (Wetsit) Walton, 89, died March 13, 2023. She was born Oct. 24, 1933, her brother looked at her and said “what a tweet little girl.” Everyone laughed as he couldn’t say “sweet.” The name stuck and she grew up known as Tweet Wetsit. Her parents were John Earl and Nina Catherine (Redstone) Wetsit. She was given her name as a girl at a ceremony. At that time, it was illegal to practice Indigenous religion and customs. She never shared her name given at that ceremony. Her grandfather called her Sha Hiya Wiya/ Cree Girl. She graduated from Frazer High School and went on to complete her teaching degree at Eastern University (Montana State University Billings). She did her student teaching at McKinley School in Billings. She then became a teacher in Harlowton. She was recruited to teach at North Pasture Creek School where she met Edmund “June” Commodore Walton Jr. Together, they raised five children, Doretta, Carolyn, Steve, Patrick and Thomas “T. Ed”. She raised chickens, turkey and pigs on the ranch. Her children tell stories of how the birds would follow her throughout the yard and happily chirp at her. Each year, she’d share the poultry with family and friends. When she moved to town, she continued to care for the cats and dogs throughout her neighborhood. She demonstrated generosity and compassion throughout her life and instilled the love of family in her children. Whenever anyone came to visit, she would feed them and insist they took food or a gift with them. She was a lifelong educator, always willing to teach others valuable lessons. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Lawrence “Hans” Wetsit, Donald Wetsit, George “Bootsie” Wetsit and Katie “Dolly” Wetsit Stark. She is survived by her children, Dorie Rush, Carolyn Rusche, Steve Walton, Patrick Walton and T.Ed Walton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Wetsit Jones. Funeral service was held Friday, March 17, at the Immaculate Conception Church with burial following at Greenwood Cemetery.

A celebration of life for Ella Mae Keller, 92, is being planned for June 17, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Sidney, Mont., with Pastor Mike Backhaus officiating. Ella Mae Keller was born in rural Turtle Lake, N.D., on June 17, 1930, to Fred and Olga (Schilling) Klain, the oldest of six children. Ella Mae married Raymond Keller on Dec. 6, 1950, and to this union nine children were born. Ella Mae and Ray moved throughout North Dakota before settling in Wolf Point, Mont., in 1972. Ella Mae worked as a cook at the Sherman Motor Inn in Wolf Point for over 25 years. Ella Mae loved to fish with Ray and even hunted a few deer. They enjoyed going camping and took the family on many trips. Ella Mae and Ray moved to The Lodge in Sidney in 2009 and lived there until Ray passed away in June of 2010. After, Ella Mae resided in the Extended Care Nursing Home in Sidney since 2017. Ella Mae passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023, at the Sidney Health Center with her family at her side. Ella Mae is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Jerry) Dempsey, Sharon (Kevin) Roth, Laura Duffey and Susan (Charles) Norwood; her sons, Paul (Tanya) Keller and Ricky Keller; daughter-in-law, Tina (Dave) Keller; siblings, Lois (Dennis) Schott, Lillian (John) Volochenko, Richard (Sharon) Klain and LeRoy Klain; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Keller; sons, David and Clifford; daughter, Pam Bell; grandsons, Michael Roth and Jeremy Dempsey; and sister, Mary. Felicia Fern LeMay, 47, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Poplar, died March 1, 2023. She was born in Billings to Joyce Ricker and Frederick James LeMay. She grew up in Poplar and California before putting her roots down in Albuquerque, N.M., where she started her family. Her children remember her most for taking them to the Fourth of July parades in Los Lunas, the park and spending family time watching movies in the living room of their home. She accepted everyone for who they were without judgment and, for that, she made many friends along her journey. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Almyra Greyhawk and Justine Shields; and close friend, Albert Gallegos. She is survived by her nine children of Albuquerque, Mariah Gallegos, Reyna Gallegos, Michelle Gallegos, Shaniah Gallegos, Anthony Gallegos, Erica Lopez, Raven Montoya, Rueban Lopez and Estrella Montoya; sisters, Kitty Ricker and Kim Shields; and brothers, Fredrick James Lemay III and Chaska Foley. Funeral services were held Monday, March 20, at the Makaicu Presbyterian Church. Interment was at Riverside Presbyterian Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.

Lillian Beatrice Bruguier Christian died March 10, 2023, in Wolf Point. She was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Wolf Point to Elsie Miller and Leo Charles. She grew up in Wolf Point as the fourth child of six children. She attended schools in Wolf Point and graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1950. After high school, she got married and started her family. During the course of raising her family, she started her 10year career in the healthcare field as a nurse’s aide at Faith Lutheran Home and Trinity Hospital. After working in healthcare, she embarked on a 48-year career with the Fort Peck Tribes. Her first job was with the HeadStart program as the health and nutrient coordinator for nine years. She then transferred to the planning department to work as the planning coordinator for three years. She then started work with the Tribal Maintenance Department as a secretary. She eventually worked her way up to the director of maintenance and retired after 20 plus years of work there. Retirement, however, wasn’t a good fit for her. She soon went back to work again. This time, she started her career with the Fort Peck Tribes in the CHR Department as a driver and eventually worked her way up to being the program supervisor. After eight years with the CHR Department, she decided it was time for her to have her final retirement at the age of 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Matilda, Emily and Joyce; brother, William; sons, Desmond and Forrest; and granddaughter, Jessee. She is survived by her brother, Forrest Bruguier; son, William Eder Jr., Eric Bruguier, Neil Tayler and adopted son, Will Morey; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 16, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Cremation followed the services. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
