Sharon Baldry

Sharon Baldry

On Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, Sharon Baldry went to be with her family in God’s graces. She was born in Scobey, Mont., March 13 1953, to Rose and Dale Baldry. She lived in Poplar, Mont., most of her life until she moved to Wolf Point to be closer to her brother, Buck. During high school, she worked at the Poplar cafe that her mom and dad owned. She then worked at the American Legion Club in Poplar for many years. She met and made so many friends at work. She valued these friendships the rest of her life. She graduated from Poplar in 1971 and had recently reconnected with a few of those friends. Sharon was a very quiet person until you got to know her. She was a lot of fun be around. She loved the county life — riding horses, going to brandings and just spending time with family and friends. She loved herself a good ole hamburger and french fries. Everyone loved when she would make and bring her date bars to special occasions. Sharon has gone and joined her family, Rose Baldry, Dale Baldry, Earl Oldenburg, Hans Oldenburg, Calvin Oldenburg, John Baldry, Beverly Oldenburg, Elizabeth Suchy and David Gibson in Heaven. She is survived by one brother, Buck Baldry; a niece, Teresa Gibson (Samantha Gibson and Shanda Gibson); sisters-in-law and many other nieces and nephews. She is also leaving behind a lot of great friends that are like family. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. (Paid Obituary)

Robert Murray

Robert Murray

Robert “Boy” Murray, 69, died Aug. 31, 2024. He was born Nov. 21, 1954, in Poplar to Robert and Patricia Murray. Out of the six children, he was the only boy and the nickname “The Boy” followed all his life. He lived many places in his childhood, but Brockton and Poplar were always home. He graduated from Poplar High School in 1972. After high school, he lived in Sidney and Denver, Colo., eventually settling back in Poplar. He married Theresa Jessepe on May 2, 1977. From this union came their three children, Isaac, Jessie and Robert “Bobby.” Together, they built an amazing life, which included his employment with Fort Peck Tribes, city police officer, oil rig worker, mechanic and limo driver. He eventually starting his career in the Postal Service in 1984. He became post master of Brockton and Poplar, which he served his community for 36 years. He worked in may post offices in northeast Montana, including Wolf Point, Froid, Scobey, Nashua, Frazer, Culbertson and Plentywood. This made him well-known and respected throughout the Hi-Line. He retired from the Postal Service in 2020 and became, in his words, “fulltime Grandpa.” He was a very talented musician and played in many bands throughout his life. He started to get into music in grade school, eventually starting a three-piece band with friends Wendall and Gary Mail. He spoke often of their band and how they “kicked ass.” They booked dances every weekend all over the state of Montana. Throughout his life, he was in many different bands with lifelong friends, Don Moran, Ira Darnell, Jesse Kirn, Robert BlackDog and Greg Solberg. Most recently, he started to get the music itch and talked about starting up another band. His love of music doesn’t end with him — his legacy continues with his children and grandchildren. He was a lifelong learner, obtaining degrees from Fort Peck Community College with an associate degree and a bachelor’s degree in education from Rocky Mountain College in Billings. He led by example and encouraged his children to further their educations. He was an avid outdoorsman, taking his sons and nephews hunting, fishing and cutting firewood. Always serving his community, he also was a Poplar School Board member for many years. He loved his culture, and he loved the Lord. He was a man of God and would pray with anyone that needed it. He was a member of the Catholic Church in Poplar and a member of the Nationwide Prayer Warrior Society. Many years were spent as a Eucharistic minister and he gave communion to the homebound sick. The powwow circuit became his home and danced at every powwow he could attend. He made many friends on the powwow trail that he considered to be his family. He was truly happiest dancing in the powwow circle and, in the end, he was with his granddaughter Madelyn dancing at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dallas Falcon, Barbara Murray and Billy Gayle Murray Bemer. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; sons, Isaac and Robert D Murray III; daughter, Jessie; two granddaughters; and sisters, Kathy Murray and Patricia Murray. Craig Azure

Craig Azure

Craig Allen Azure passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2024, in his wife’s loving arms at Trinity Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Craig was born in Poplar, Mont., on Feb. 3, 1959, to Lazare Ezear “John” Azure and Emily Bruguier Azure. He was the seventh of 12 children. He attended Northside and Southside elementary schools in Wolf Point and graduated in 1977 from Wolf Point High School. He went on to attend Northern University in Havre, Mont. Craig spoke fondly of his childhood. He cherished all the times he had with his siblings and friends and numerous cousins. His father taught him to hunt and fish, which later became one of his greatest passions in life. He often talked about the numerous “hikes” up Wolf Creek, stopping along the way to catch a fish or shoot a rabbit which he always took to his grandmother Catherine Azure, whom he adored. She was always ready to cook them up for him. His fondest memories were of the times he spent with his grandparents, Louis and Catherine. As he grew up, he helped his father in the construction field, which would later become his life’s work. In 1985, he met his wife, Jennifer. They married in 1986 and became the center of each others’ worlds. They enjoyed life together and could always be found at the lake fishing, hunting or on their way to the many concerts they loved to attend. Always on the go, they were always together. This union lasted strong and loving until his passing and will continue until the end of time. This union brought forth the birth of their children, Aaron Allen Azure, Tacette Lynn Azure and Samantha Ann Moran. Family meant everything to Craig. He worked hard and tirelessly to provide for them and make sure they had whatever they needed or wanted. Throughout his life, he worked many construction jobs. He worked for Sansaver Construction, Sletten Construction and Apollo Construction to name a few. He later started his own company A Plus Construction, of which he was very proud. He prided himself on being hardworking, fair and honest. If he didn’t earn it, he didn’t want it. He knew he had to work hard so he could play hard. Craig’s passion in life was being an outdoorsman. He loved camping, fishing and was an exceptional hunter. Known for his love of big Muleys, he could always be found on the trail of the “big guy.” Mostly, he can be remembered for his kind and giving heart. If he had it and you needed it, it was yours. His generous acts are too numerous to count, but he touched so many lives with his generosity, never wanting or needing anything in return. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Marquardt Azure; his children, Aaron Allen Azure, Tacette Lynn Azure and Samantha (Jordan) Moran, all of Wolf Point, Mont.; his brothers, Rodney “Dudsi” (Carol) Azure of Poplar, Mont., and Kevin (Val) of Wolf Point; and sisters, Donna Taylor of Billings, Mont., Pauline (Bert) Feuvray of Hardin, Mont., Sharon Azure of Gallup, N.M., Linda Azure of Minneapolis, Minn., Connie (Frank) MacDonald of Wolf Point, Mont., Judy Azure of Edina, Minn., Rita Langager of St. George, Utah and Sherl (Ron) Shanks of Brockton, Mont. He is also survived by many family members (cousins, nephews, nieces, etc.) that are too numerous to mention that he loved dearly and an abundance of friends he cared deeply about. He was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Emily; stepfather, Leroy Forrest; brother, Michael Azure; grandparents, Louis and Catherine Azure and Leo and Elsie Bruguier; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he cared for deeply. Craig was an amazing man, loving husband, exceptional father and an extremely hard worker and the best friend anyone could ever want. His loss is overwhelming and unmatched. He will be missed intensely and deeply by those who loved and knew him. Please watch over us and guide us as you did in life. We love you more than these words will ever be able to express. Family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at the new Wolf Point Community Hall. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. (Paid Obituary)
