Commissioners Discuss Road, Crossing Improvements; Minor Subdivision Plans Approved


The Roosevelt County Commissioners held their regular meeting Tuesday, June 2. Commissioners Gordon Oelkers, Duane Nygaard and Gary Macdonald were present. Attendance via conference call was optional. Oelkers gave an update about changes to County Road 1013, where another individual died recently crossing the main BNSF rail line. Two local men were killed at the same crossing in August 2019.

Collision Near Bainville Claims Sidney Man


A Sidney man is dead after an Amtrak passenger train collided with a John Deere 4940 sprayer tractor at mile marker 653 on U.S. Highway 2 between Bainville and Culbertson May 29. The accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. A small fire also broke out at the scene. Rocky Norby, 65, was driving the tractor and died on impact.
