Fort Peck Tribes, in partnership with HPDP, held a dedication ceremony for the Thundering Buffalo Health and Wellness Center on Wednesday, April 20, at 11:30 a.m. A grand opening of the facility is scheduled for Friday, April 22, for the public.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is implementing a new process for elk hunting access (EHA) agreements to provide more transparency with the public and landowners and allow for a clearer process for Fish and Wildlife Commission review. EHA agreements were codified in Montana statute in 2001. The agreements were known as “454 agreements” reflecting the bill number of the original legislation.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks biologists completed their surveys of the Missouri River Breaks elk hunting districts 621, 622 and 630 in February. Overall, the surveys indicate that elk numbers are below current population objectives for each respective portion of the Breaks. Appropriate management actions, such as adjusting antlerless B-licenses for this fall, may occur in some districts.
