The Roosevelt County Commissioners approved a series of purchases during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10. One of the purchases was for a snowblower to be used at the Wolf Point L.M. Clayton Airport. Cost is $11,540. The payment will be split between the City of the Wolf Point and the county. Commissioners also approved the purchase of a 2024 Ram 4x4 cab for the maintenance department.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 100 calls from Sept. 9-16. The Fort Peck Tribal Police and U.S. Marshals have arrested Courtney Cantrell of Poplar on a Fort Peck Tribes’ extradition warrant. Cantrell, 35, has a second degree murder warrant out of New Orleans, La. According to media reports, Cantrell was identified on Aug. 26 as a “person of interest” that homicide detectives were seeking to interview. Officials said Cantrell could have information

The Wolf Point School Board approved the hiring of several extra-curricular positions during its meeting on Monday, Sept. 9. Extra-curricular responsibilities approved to be handled by music director Jacob Bradshaw are pep band, Madrigal, high school band and chorus extra and junior high band and chorus extra. Head coaches approved were Rodney Paulson for golf and Dan Horsmon for tennis.

The United States Department of Agriculture has designated three counties, including Roosevelt County, as Primary Natural Disaster Areas for Drought. Several petition to revoke cases were conducted in district court in front of District Judge David Cybulski on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Trevor Levi Crain changed his plea and admitted to not reporting an instance of failure to comply with the law. Based on a joint recommendation, Cybulski unsuspended Crain’s 10-year sentence with the Department of Corrections for Crain to receive treatment.
