Witches Spread Halloween Cheer
Cackles filled the streets of Culbertson as a growing caravan of witches made its way through town, trading a typical broomstick flight for decorated bicycles, golf carts and a walk with friends.
The Culbertson Women’s Club brought members together for a Witches Ride this year, dressing in costumes and decorating their bikes, brooms and golf carts for a trip from house to house and business to business. Along the way, the group spread Halloween cheer with outfits and laughter that made the procession hard to miss.
Decked out from head to toe in Halloween spirit, the witches found their numbers growing as they traveled. At stop after stop, more participants joined the caravan until more than 30 witches were walking and riding through Culbertson.
Some pedaled, others rode, and still others continued on foot, creating a procession as varied as the costumes themselves. Together, they brought a playful touch of Halloween to the streets and doorsteps of the community.
Club member Lanatte Bidegaray said the group hopes to turn the gathering into a tradition with a fundraising purpose. “We hope to do this yearly as a fundraiser,” Bidegaray said.
With decorated rides, plenty of company and cackles carrying through the air, this year’s outing gave Culbertson a spirited introduction to what the club hopes will become an annual event.
