Wolves Drop Final Game
The lone touchdown of the game came on the opening kickoff as the Wolf Point Wolves ended their season with a 6-2 home loss against Sidney’s JVs on Saturday, Oct. 24. The game was scheduled after Big Timber forfeited against Wolf Point.
Wolf Point’s defense again turned in an admirable effort in the non-conference defeat. The offense also had its moments but couldn’t get into the end zone.
The contest opened with Sidney’s Max Kleine returning a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown to put the Eagles ahead 6-0.
Wolf Point responded by driving inside the Sidney 25 on the hard running of Jesse Reed, but the threat ended with a fumble.
Later in the quarter, the Wolves moved into Sidney territory when quarterback Tanner MacDonald connected with a leaping Damari Martinez for a 22yard gain to the Eagle 39. A holding call stalled the drive.
Sidney was stopped on its next drive on solid defensive plays by Wolf Point’s Jayden Dominique and Wheeler Damboise.
After the Eagles made a fumble recovery, Sidney had a chance to increase its lead but a sack by Reed helped stop the threat.
Another threat by Sidney, this time in the second quarter, was stopped on defensive plays by Aaryn Hamilton and Martavius BadHawk.
A nice sideline catch by Dominique put the Wolves inside Sidney territory later in the quarter. The running of Reed led the Wolves inside the Sidney 20 before the Eagles turned away Wolf Point.
Wolf Point’s offensive attack struggled with interceptions and penalties during the third quarter. The Wolves, however, came up with a takeaway of their own when Evan Kawasaki picked off a pass late in the period.
The Wolves drove as deep as the Sidney three in the fourth quarter but came up short of scoring. Facing a fourth-and-12 on their own two, the Eagles elected to take a safety with 3:48 remaining.
Wolf Point’s next drive ended near midfield with just 1:27 left in the game.
