Lamb Enjoys Bond With Teammates
Scobey Senior
Scobey’s senior Torsten Lamb feels a lack of great height can be an advantage. At least, it seems to be for him on the football field.
Lamb, who is 5-8 and 190 pounds, has sacked a quarterback on a play that led to a safety and also has forced fumbles this season for the undefeated Spartans. He has also made several tackles for losses.
“I think playing against a shorter opponent is tougher for them,” Lamb said of his success. “I think I have a good advantage because of my speed, too.”
This is Lamb’s fourth year starting for the Spartans, but every year hasn’t been at the same position. He was a running back and linebacker as a freshman, then a running back and defensive end the next two seasons. This year, he lines up on the offensive and defensive lines.
One drawback is that he doesn’t have as many opportunities running with the football this season.
“I miss it, but Coach Berryhill is good about getting me the ball,” Lamb said. “Each time I’ve touched it, I’ve scored this year.”
His goals for the rest of the season are winning another state championship and to keep developing as a player.
Lamb is pleased with the team’s success so far this season. “I’m more than happy. We’ve grown a bigger bond together,” he explained.
Along with football, Lamb is involved in the school’s FFA program.
His favorite area is mechanics where he learns about welding and wiring.
Lamb’s favorite class is lifetime sports. “A lot of the guys are in it,” Lamb said.
He doesn’t have a teacher that he likes the best. “I like all the teachers pretty well in all areas,” he explained.
He has lived in Scobey since his family moved from Hudson, Wis., in 2013. “I like how rural it is and that you know everybody here,” Lamb said.
After high school, he plans to attend the North Dakota State University in Fargo and study agriculture technology.
