Daniels County Library Notes

Dolly All The Time by Annabel Monaghan is a new contemporary romance that takes place in Whitfield, Rhode Island. Dolly Brick is a hard lady to keep down! She has no problem-solving problems, even when she was just a young girl and her mom left. Or now, when she must return to Whitfi eld with her son to help her family keep from losing the family estate!

When she makes her way into town, she comes across Stewart Whitfield, and he is just the most handsome, desirable man you could dream up. Well, he isn’t perfect. Being that he has a flat tire, and Dolly changes it for him!

This incident is the beginning of a most unusual relationship, and the rest of the story will leave you with sweet dreams.

The Most Dangerous Games by James Patterson and MrBeast is a mystery/ thriller. One thousand invitations have gone out, but only 100 make the short list! The goal of this game it to be the last man standing, to be the Saviour of the World, and the reward is one billion dollars!

The contestants are taken to the most extreme climates our world has to offer, the frigid atmosphere of Antarctica, predator-filled waters, caves, deserts, places with nothing to recommend them!

As the players tap out, the alliances change, deals are made, and then reneged on. Who will the winner be? Good luck figuring this one out!!

Library Hours: Monday- Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Story Hour will be Monday at 3 p.m. and Wednesday at 10 a.m. for ages 3-5 years old. Stories, songs, and crafts! Come join the fun!

The Second Annual Soup-Ber Bowl is in the books now! Kara Gannon is our grand prize winner with her slow cooker cheddar ale and bratwurst soup. Thank you to all the wonderful chefs that provided for this fun event.

Friends of the Library Silent Auction began Oct. 5, and runs through Oct. 15, ending at 4 p.m. SHARP. We are accepting donations at this time! Stop by and get your bidder number, you won’t be disappointed. Tons of fun items, baked goods, gift certificates, homemade pickles, jams, quilts, the list goes on. Funds raised are used exclusively for Daniels County Library.

Book Worm Buddies will meet Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 4 p.m. for grades K-6th. Books, games and fun for all.

Lego Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m. for grades K-6th. This will be a free-style night, so bring your imagination!

Daniels County Library will be closed Oct. 12, for Columbus/ Indigenous peoples Day!

Daniels County Library Board will meet Oct. 13, at 4 p.m. at the library. The public is invited to attend.

Book Club will meet Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. We are reading Wool by Hugh Howey. This is the first book in the Silo Series This dystopian novel takes place in a postapocalyptic world where survivors are living underground in a giant silo.

The trouble comes when the police chief wants to go outside, and things start to unravel, and that’s all I can tell you about that! Stop by the library for a copy and join us for a chat! We are also reading The Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride by Joe Siple. This is a feelgood story about a man is 100 years old when he meets Jason Cashman, a 10-year-old boy with a terminal condition and a list.

There are five things on Jason’s list and together they race the clock!

We will plan on talking about each book at our meeting, so read one or both and join us for treats.
