Speakers Announced For Ag Summit

The Eastern Montana Ag Summit will feature several informational speakers during its programs on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Culbertson Community Center.

“The summit is designed to provide eastern Montana producers, landowners and agribusiness professionals with practical information they can take home and use in their own operations,” said Shaylee Wahl of the Eastern Montana Food and Ag Development Center.

The Great Northern Development Corporation and Eastern Plains Economic Development Corp. are hosting the summit.

Special presentation will feature Brent Turner, author of “Peace of Land.” The three-hour presentation is titled, “Legacy, Land and Letting Go” and will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Wahl explained, “Turner’s session will focus on one of the most important, and often most difficult, issues facing farm and ranch families: succession planning and the transition of land, businesses and family legacies to the next generation.”

She continued, “Rather than a short conference presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to spend the entire morning with Turner, allowing time to dig deeper into the conversations and decisions that come with planning for the future of a farm or ranch.”

During the afternoon, Jason Boeshore with United Grain will provide a commodity crops update and MSU Extension agent Wendy Becker will present a pesticide applicator session.
