Daniels Commissioners Discuss Grant Award

The Daniels County Commissioners held their regular meeting Sept. 21. Commissioners held a Zoom call with Bridger Pipeline. A company representative walked the commissioners through draft documentation for the project, which remains under development.

A memorandum of understanding with the Department of Motor Vehicles regarding transaction fees was approved. A nocost office lease with the Department of Revenue was approved for a fiveyear period.

A Zoom meeting was held with Community Development Block Grant program representatives. The county is slated to receive $37,000 for capital improvement projects via CDBG grant funding. Interstate Engineering is administering the grant award for the county.

County Attorney Logan Olson provided a briefing on strategies for handling potential conflicts of interest.

Discussion was held about options for paying off the balance of an intercap loan held with the Department of Commerce for the dump/transfer site and equipment purchased for the transfer site. A motion was approved to pay the loan balance with funds borrowed from Daniels-Sheridan Federal Credit Union at a fixed rate of five percent.

Neil Holum provided an update from the Daniels County Fire Department. His report included a Sept. 14 incident involving the department’s 1980 one-ton truck, which hit a washout, pushing the front axle back on the driver’s side and resulting in a broken window and body damage. Holum said he didn’t think the vehicle was worth fixing, as repairs could be as much as $2,500. No action was taken.

A service agreement was approved with Tyler Technologies for moving the county’s financial software to the cloud.
