Cowboys Set Sights On Return To Football Playoffs
The Culbertson Cowboys are heading into the new football season with a familiar group of returning players, experienced leadership and hopes of making another trip to the playoffs.
Head coach Brian Manning welcomes back returning starters Brooke Solem, Mauricio Mena, ACden Drake and Glen Snyder. Their experience will give the Cowboys a solid foundation as they prepare for the season ahead.
Solem and Drake are joined by Cal Steppler as this year’s seniors. Cord Snyder and Noah Fox also return after seeing significant playing time last season, adding more experience to the Cowboys roster.
Manning said one of Culbertson’s strengths this season will be its skill positions. Solem returns to the field after earning All-State honors last season and will be among the players the Cowboys look to for leadership.
While plenty of familiar faces are back, Manning said one of the biggest questions during the preseason will be finding out how much depth the Cowboys have.
Culbertson will have a little extra time to answer that question. With a bye during the first week of the season, the Cowboys will have three weeks of practice before taking the field for their first game.
That additional practice time will give Manning and the Cowboys an opportunity to see where younger players fit, develop depth and make adjustments before the season gets underway.
The goal for Culbertson is straightforward — make it back to the playoffs.
Several matchups are also already drawing the Cowboys’ attention. Manning said the team is looking forward to games against Scobey, Circle, Forsyth and Ekalaka.
With experienced players returning, younger Cowboys looking for their opportunity and some extra time on the practice field, Culbertson will spend the opening weeks preparing for what it hopes will be another postseason run.
