Cummins Starts As Administrator In Lustre

Evan Cummins is excited to serve as the new chief administrator at Lustre High School.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of the school and community,” Cummins said.

His education experience includes teaching business for four years in Poplar and then serving as an assistant principal for one year and a principal for three years in Brockton.

Along with being Lustre’s administrator, Cummins is also excited about the opportunity of teaching a Bible class. His first degree was a bachelors degree in Biblical studies from Trinity Bible College in North Dakota.

Lustre will begin the school year on Monday, Aug. 17. High school enrollment is anticipated to be about 35 students.

New teachers at Lustre High School this year are Hayley Bell for English and Graceann Balagulan for math.

In addition, Cummins will serve as Lustre’s cross country coach. While in Brockton, he coached that school’s cross country team. Lustre’s school board approved Lustre to attend five meets along with the state meet for its first season this year.

“The plan is to have a full season next year,” Cummins explained. “Interest right now is pretty minimal, but we’re hoping to build momentum.”

Cummins’ family includes a sophomore daughter and a sixth-grade son.

“I’m not trying to change too much,” Cummins said of his leadership role at the school. “I’m hoping to record a music project with the kids. I’m looking forward to that.”

He aims to meet the academic goals set by the school and community.

“For the most part, I will be observing and taking the heartbeat of the community in my first year,” Cummins said.
