Three Independent Candidates Certified

The Montana Secretary of State announced Wednesday, July 15, that the state election team confirmed three independent candidates for political office met the signature requirements to appear on the November ballot.

Seth Bodnar, the former president of the University of Montana who is running in a three-way race for the U.S. Senate, submitted more than twice the number of signatures required for the office.

In the state’s eastern congressional district, Michael Eisenhauer also met the signature threshold for a Congressional seat, and will face incumbent Rep. Troy Downing, a Republican, and attorney Brian Miller, a Democrat.

And a sole candidate for the Montana Legislature, Shayne Morgan, will be on the ballot for House District 76, which covers Drummond and Philipsburg.

Morgan will face off against Republican candidate Trish Schreiber, who defeated an incumbent Rep. John Fitzpatrick in the primary. There is no Democrat in the race.
