The Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede was again an incredible success in our community. Volunteers and businesses stepped up to make sure it was a great time for all.
Although some faces with a few little wrinkles are helping out, it’s amazing the dedication that some of our senior citizens display during Stampede weekend. Take a person like Dennis Heser, for example, who was involved in such tasks as cooking the supper for the Wolf Point Wild Horse Race on Wednesday night, golfing in the Tough Enough To Wear Pink tournament on Thursday morning, cooking breakfast for Friday morning slack contestants and then hauling refreshments to the Stampede rodeo grandstands on Friday night.
He is a good example of the spirit that it takes to make a community like Wolf Point great. There are several senior citizens who have performed the “same jobs” whether it’s ticket taking, working in concessions or serving during the museum’s breakfast for many of years.
So, I salute these valuable senior citizens. But as the George Jones’ song goes, Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?
It’s time for more of this community’s younger people to begin joining non-profit organizations such as the Optimist Club, the Lions Club or the Elks Lodge. Each of these are commendable groups that benefit many projects.

There are other organizations such as the Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture or Wolf Point Community Organization that are always needing additional volunteers. Opportunities are there. The community is just waiting for your help.
