Teams, Individuals Win Awards At Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo
The Maxwell Butte Ranch team of Powderville repeated as the champions of the Wolf Point Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo on Wednesday, July 8. Team members Lane Krutzfeldt, Parker Murnion, Shawn Bessette and Jace Bilbrey won a total of $7,000 and buckles.
Whiteman Cattle Co., of Richey earned $4,200 and head stalls made by Don Proue for second place. Team members were Lee Whiteman, Spencer Ingalls, Justin Prewitt and Tanner Solberg.
Simanton Land and Livestock of Whitewater took home $2,800 for third place. The team featured Jeret Warren, Guy Simanton, Cliff Merriman and Cody Hanson.
Teams winning others events were Maxwell Butte for branding, Whitman Cattle for stray gather/doctoring, Simanton Land and Livestock for trailer loading, Sidney Livestock/Prewitt Cattle for cow milking and Nordlund Ranch for step on bronc riding.
Chasyn Arneson of Nordlund Ranch earned first for bronc wild ride. He won $250, a buckle and a custom hack rein donated by James Gorman.
Shawn Bessette of Maxwell Butte Ranch captured the top hand/top horse honor. He received custom Kerry Kelly spurs and a complete horse care package donated by CHS.
The Kirkland Ranch team of Colt Knaff, Remy Liles and Walker Kirkland finished first in the wild pony race. They earned buckles and hoodies.
Fort Peck Bandits took first and Bronc Stomp University placed second in the second annual Weyrauch Memorial Wild Horse Race.
The Wolf Point Volunteer Fire Department received $960 in the Milking For A Cause event.
