The Culbertson Town Council held its monthly meeting at the town hall on Monday, July 13. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. There were two visitors.

After approving meeting minutes from June, as well as reports, vouchers, bills and payroll, council members heard an update on construction at the SRE building. Doors and windows are expected to be going in by the end of the week. They also discussed an old “Coin Shack” well, but determined it is outside city limits.

Two site sketch plans were approved by the council, one for a shipping container and one for a fence.

The council discussed the current state of ordinances regarding curbs and sidewalks, with members trying to determine who is responsible for paying to repair and replace damaged areas. The matter was tabled for more information and legal counsel.

A new stand-up desk was approved for billing clerk Amber Fox.

During the public works report, director Bob Jasper said he and Mike Smith have been working on landscaping and trenching for sprinklers at the pool.

A public hearing was held for amendments to Ordinance 249, which covers development review regulations for the use and placement of shipping containers. The change would prohibit the placement of shipping containers at residential properties in town. Shipping containers currently in place will be grandfathered in, but may not be moved without losing their exception. A first reading of the amended ordinance was heard and approved.
