Congratulations to all those who participated in the Class C Montana State Track Meet on behalf of Lustre. Lustre Lions boys finished in second place with 71 points, behind Cascade. For girls, Kencia Brown placed second in javelin with both personal and state records. Johnslee Pierre medaled first in four races, setting a state record in the 400m, the 300m hurdles and placing first in long and triple jumps.
Beacon Bible Camp is in full swing. Senior high camp began June 7-12. Junior camp for incoming grades 4-6 is June 14-19, followed by junior high camp on June 21-26. The directors are the same as last year, and registration can be found on their website.
Lustre received a nice rain on Thursday evening and temps moderated to the 61-71 range.
Dwaine and Vivian Wall attended the graduation of their grandson Aidan Burns on May 20, in Mankato, Minn. Burns graduated from Mankato East High School as a member of the National Honor Society and was awarded the Academic Achievement award and the Generations Award to Iowa State University, where he will study kinesiology. The Walls attended his final band concert and a game of the Mankato East High School lacrosse team, of which he was co-captain.
Roberto and Heather Atienza returned from Cebu, Philippines for the graduation of their son, Dietrich Atienza from University of Northwestern St Paul on May 16. He graduated Summa Cum Laude (GPA of 3.95) with a bachelor in ESL education and a bachelor in elementary education. He is married to Catherine, and the grandson of Dwaine and Vivian Wall of Lustre. They attended the Filipino graduation supper/ reception, cooked by Dietrich in honor of his sister, May’s high school graduation and his college graduation on May 16. The Atienzas will return to the Philippines June 16.
LCHS is looking for two teachers. Contact the LCHS if interested. The school appreciates to community members who stepped in to finish out the year on top of family and farming duties.
