Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 158 calls from May 11-18.

The calls included the following: May 11

Deputies and the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice responded to Poplar tribal housing of a report from an adult female that her boyfriend beat her up including punching her in the face. She asked to talk to an advocate from the Red Bird Woman Center. A warrant request was sent to the Fort Peck tribal court.

Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to tribal housing in Poplar for a report of a stabbing. It was reported that a juvenile stabbed his uncle with a machete. FPTDLJ made contact with the victim. He denied being stabbed, but he had injuries to his face.

May 12

Deputies received a report of a suspicious vehicle in Culbertson. The driver was contacted, and it was just a misunderstanding.

May 13

Deputies, FPTDLJ and the Bureau of Indiana Affairs conducted a search in Wolf Point’s tribal housing. A male, Alvino Spotted Elk Sr., 37, and a female were transported to the tribal jail.

Deputies and FPTDLJ were called to a domestic dispute on Poplar’s airport addition. A female said her boyfriend was beating her up and trying to steal her money. The male was taken to tribal jail.

May 14

Deputies assisted the Richland County Sheriff’s Office for a wreck involving a SUV and a construction vehicle on Highway 16, County Road 146. A female suffered a compound fracture. Also responding were Culbertson ambulance, Sidney ambulance and the Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department. Deputies were at the scene for about three hours.

May 15

Deputies responded to Froid school for a threat made toward the school. A deputy contacted a student and guardian.

May 16

Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to a structure fire shortly after midnight on Custer Avenue and Fourth Street in Wolf Point. A deputy used a fire extinguisher to put out the first at the abandoned house. Law enforcement searched for a male suspect.

Deputies, FPTDLJ and Poplar ambulance responded to an aggravated assault in Poplar. Poplar ambulance transported a male who was stabbed. FPTDLJ arrested another male.

May 17

FPTDLJ requested that deputies meet at Tule Creek for a prisoner transfer. Before having the prisoner put in the vehicle, deputy conducted a pat down. Found was needle and a baggie in the clothing of Loni Lilley, 43. A possession of drug paraphernalia charge was added.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s report activity statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, 29; Wolf Point Rural, six; Wolf Point FPHA areas, 13; Poplar city limits, 14; Poplar rural, 16; Poplar FPHA all other, 16; Poplar FPHA Airport Addition, seven; Culbertson town, 14; Culbertson rural, two; Bainville rural, three; Froid town, three; Brockton town, seven; Brockton rural, 15; Fort Kipp, 12; total, 158.
