Poplar Graduates Students
Poplar High School’s commencement exercises featured 56 graduates during a ceremony at the school on Sunday afternoon.
Salutatorian Lukas Young explained the life lessons that he experienced while playing golf because you can’t let one shot impact the rest of your round. He encouraged classmates to accept the past.
“It’s best if you smile and move on,” Young said. “Don’t let a bad past ruin a good future.”
Valedictorian John Azure Jr. congratulated his classmates. He thanked parents, guardians and teachers for their positive influences.
Azure discussed his enjoyment of being part of the school’s band program.
“I hope all your lives keep getting better and better,” Azure said.
Guest speaker Donovan “Beefy” Archambault entertained the crowd by providing jokes about the school’s leaders. “We only tease the ones we like,” he said.
Archambault concluded that life is 10 percent of what happens to you and 90 percent of how you respond.
Scholarship recipients included
